Low Glucose Levels At Work
There is nothing worse when my glucose levels drop when I am at work and I am sure I am not alone in this subject.
My numbers were good this morning, I woke up on 9.6 and then before I left home to go to work I was 9.8. I thought that was pretty good and then a few short hours later I was driving and I didn't feel right so I pulled over and checked my level and I was 4.3. I know that 4.3 is not a low glucose level but it also means that I could't drive.
I got my level back up to 5.4 so I could drive again, it did mean I was late to my next client but there was nothing I could do. It was a very stressful morning to say the least and that showed in my lunch time reading 18.6 I wasn't too happy about that. I only gave for one exchange because I knew I would be moving around a little in the afternoon but doing this made me go low.
As I was finishing the allocated service I thought I would take my level as I was feeling really tired and worn out. My level was 3.2 I could't believe it. I had a can of Coca-cola in my work bag so I had that plus two sugar sticks. I checked my level after ten minutes and I had dropped down again instead I was 2.6 I grabbed a can of Lemonade from a the box next to the pantry and I had to call my Coordinator.
When I phoned the office my Coordinator was in a meeting and the other Coordinator was also in the meeting. So in the end I spoke with the next person in charge, I had to stay where I was I could not go anywhere. I was told call back in five minutes and we'll go from there. I called back and I was only 3.5 and I knew there was no way I was getting to my last client so that was taken off me and I had to sit.
My Coordinator contacted me to make sure I was okay and I was getting there, I had to check my level while I was on the phone and I was finally 6.9, I reassured the office that I could drive home safely and I was on my way.
It's not good having low glucose levels at work especially when you are with a client, it can be really stressful situation for everyone in the room and your office. Not only do you have to remain calm but you need to keep the client and the office calm. It is not easy by any means to keep these people calm.
I don't mind saying I feel tired now, my numbers have been a tad extreme today .Tomorrow can only be a better day right?
I hope you have enjoyed the post, please feel free to leave me a comment down below and tell me about your experiences with low glucose levels at work.
Until next time
