The new website is www.jennabarryt1d.wordpress.com basically same name just a different site.

Blogger has been amazing for me but it is time to move on, so I hope you will follow me at Wordpress. I may change the name of the Facebook Page but the Instagram account will stay the same.

I hope everyone is having a great week so far and I will see you on Wordpress,

Time for a little Housekeeping

I don't do this often but...

It is time for a bit of Housekeeping and the schedule for the week of Christmas, this will probably be a short post but it will be straight to the point.

I will start with the Email Subscription, if you wish to stay up to date with my blog and don't get to visit very often please sign up to the Email Subscription and you will the newest post in your inbox every week.

Now for the Social Media Pages, Type One Diabetes & Life does have a Facebook Page and now an Instagram account. I have mentioned this plenty of times in previous posts, If I am unable to do a post I will put something up on the Facebook Page and maybe Instagram. I really encourage you to check these pages because if anything happens it will be on those accounts.

Schedule for Christmas Week, Because I do posts on a Sunday and Christmas Day falls on a Sunday this year I need to bring the posts forward. I will be doing a post on Friday the 23rd December, so there will be posts on the Tuesday, Thursday and Friday of Christmas Week. I will be taking a break from the blog on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and posts should resume back to normal the following week.

There is something I do want to tell you and I am considering a move to Wordpress and I will hopefully be doing this before Christmas. I have enjoyed doing this blog a lot but I feel going to Wordpress I would have a little more freedom. Blogger is amazing, I just feel it is time to move on.

I think that is all the Housekeeping taken care of, I would really appreciate it if you could go to the Facebook Page and give it a like, page name is Type One Diabetes & Life.

I hope everyone has a great week and I will put an update on the Facebook Page when I move the blog.

Until next time

How to Survive the Work Christmas Party

It's That Time of Year Again

I imagine that the Christmas Party season is in full swing right now and so I thought I would share some useful tips for surviving the work Christmas Party.

For the last few years my work Christmas Party has been a buffet dinner (all you can eat) and I took great pleasure in it but it is important to watch what you eat and try to count the carbs in an outside environment. This year the Christmas Party is a sit down meal, two different entrees and mains and it is an alternate drop menu so you basically eat what's in front of you.

All you can eat or a sit down meal it can be hard to count the carbohydrates, you don't have the measuring cups to guide you. You simply guess the amount of carbohydrates and hope for the best.

So here are some tips to guide you and hopefully survive the work Christmas Party;

  1. Ask your employer what the menu will be for the Party, at least then you can plan a head.
  2. Arrange a lift to and from the Party if you can, it will save you driving especially if you have a drink or two.
  3. When it comes to giving insulin for your meal just do the best that you can and if a few hours after the meal your bgl's are under 10mmol then good for you.
  4. If you do drink alcohol make sure you have it with food.
  5. Stay hydrated especially now it is Summer time.
  6. I will say keep an eye on your Blood Glucose Levels and have fun.
Those are my six tips for surviving the work Christmas Party, I hope these tips will be useful to someone out there during the Party season.

I hope everyone is having a great week so far and I will have a new post up on Sunday,

Until next time
